Helping you child at home

National Tests 2018 will take place between
2nd and 9th May 20178.

Children in Years 2 to 9 now take national tests in reading and numeracy each summer. It is really important that your child is in school to take the tests.

Reading:

The reading tests are made up of short questions based on two or more texts. Some of the questions check how well the text has been understood, others aim to find out if children are able to make judgements about what they are reading.

Numeracy:

There are two numeracy tests - one on numeracy procedural - children knowing about their number facts and working out simple problems and numeracy reasoning - this is where they have to use and apply their numeracy skills to solve a range of mathematical problems.

There are some sample test papers below for you to look at - please do not make this an onerous task for the children!
