Our topic for the Spring Term is 'Global Gourmet'.
We have got our topic off to a great start with samples of foods from around the world made by our friends and families. We have enjoyed trying food from South Africa, Italy, Romania, China, India and France so far and also tried a Chilli Sauce Challenge!
If you would like to come in and share some food from around the world or some special recipes from right here in Wales, then please speak to your child's class teacher.
We will be learning all about how far our food travels to get to our supermarkets and where it is grown. We will be finding out how our favourite foods are made and talking about our likes and dislikes in Welsh. We will be becoming Healthy, Confident Individuals by learning about the main food groups and making healthy choices.
We are also working hard on becoming Ethical, Informed Citizens by thinking about Food Packaging and it's effect on the environment. We have been litter picking in our local park and we are collecting Crisp Packets for the Walkers Recycling Scheme at lunchtimes.
The highlight of our topic is our Global Gourmet Cafe which will be held on April 5th.
Throughout the day, our Junior hall is transformed into a cafe and staffed by our fantastic Year 4 pupils who become waiters and waitresses for the day. All the money raised goes to our Storey Arms fund.
Please see our Curriculum Overview document below which will give you more information on what we will cover this term. Follow us on Twitter @CoedGlas2021 to see what we've been up to in Year 4 throughout the week. We would also love to see pictures of you cooking or trying out new foods at home.
