Message for Monday 29th April - first day of the summer term.
Using role play, we will be exploring how the Celts lived in Wales
on our first day back in school after the Easter holiday.
Please can each child in Year 3 bring with them a
small blanket, piece of material or large scarf to act as a Celtic clothing.
NO OTHER ITEMS ARE NEEDED- thank you.
Creative Holiday Task
Following our exciting Bioblitz work with the RSPB, your task is to design and make
a bird feeder or bird water bath to support wildlife in the school grounds.
There are lots of ideas on the RSPB website
Be as creative as you wish but try to recycle materials.

Welcome to Year 3!
Please find below the days in which PE lessons will be held for your child’s class. PE lessons will consist of indoor and outdoor lessons so we suggest providing the children with jogging bottoms, t-shirt and trainers. Please ensure these are sent into school in a bag and clearly labelled with your child’s name. These may be left in school on your child’s peg or may be brought in on a weekly basis.
3RW - Monday
3SU/EG - Thursday
We encourage the children to remain hydrated throughout the day. Please provide your child with a water bottle each day clearly labelled with your child’s name. Please ensure that these are NOT in their lunch bag as these are kept in a different area. As we are a Healthy Eating School, we ask that the bottle contains water only, not squash or juice.
The children are responsible for their own snack. It is possible to bring in your own healthy snack (fruit or vegetables) from home but please ensure that these are kept separately to their lunch bag, as again, these are kept in a different area. Should the children want to buy any snack in school, they need to bring in 20p per day per piece of fruit. It is the children’s responsibility to take care of this money, so we suggest sending the money into school in a wallet or purse clearly labelled with your child’s name.
In our mission to stay fit and healthy we are taking part in the ‘Daily Mile’ initiative – http://thedailymile.co.uk. A few times a week, the children and teachers will go for a 15 minute run around the school grounds. The children will need to make sure they bring a waterproof coat each day in case of wet weather. There is no need to send in trainers, but sensible shoes that won’t slip off should be worn.
Class Dojo, Schoop and School Website
Class Dojo is a brilliant resource which helps teachers and parents communicate, so we encourage anyone who is not yet connected to do so soon. Please keep an eye out for a letter with a unique code which enables you to sign up.
Please also remember to check Schoop regularly so that you are kept up to date with newsletters and information. The code is 5427 once you have downloaded the app.
We will also be communicating important information (including weekly homework tasks) via the class pages available on the school website. Please keep an eye on your child’s class page.
Homework tasks will be set on a Friday and will be due in the following Friday. The homework will be set on a three weekly rota, consisting of a creative activity, literacy and numeracy.
The literacy and numeracy tasks will be set as an online task for your child to complete – literacy in the form of a ‘Giglets’ activity and numeracy in the form of an ‘Active Learn’ activity. Your child’s login details are the same for each programme.
Cloak of Adventure
Every week one child from each class will take home the ‘Cloak of Adventure’ and its story book. The children are expected to role play and imagine a new adventure. This new chapter needs to be written in the story book. Children can be supported at home in their writing if needed. Please encourage your child to look after the cloak and book as they will need to last all year. Cloaks will be sent home on a Friday and will need to be returned the following Thursday with the completed chapter in the story book.
In Year 3, the children still need to bring their book bag containing their reading book every day. They will also have the opportunity to take home a library book if they wish. It is the children’s responsibility to let us know if they need to have their books changed.
Many thanks for your continued support and co-operation.
