Welcome to Year 2!

PE
Year 2 have PE every Monday. PE lessons will consist of indoor and outdoor lessons so we suggest providing the children with shorts or jogging bottoms, t-shirt and trainers. Please ensure these are sent into school in a bag and clearly labelled with your child’s name. These may be left in school in your child's locker or may be brought in on a weekly basis.

Daily Mile
In our mission to stay fit and healthy we are taking part in the ‘Daily Mile’ initiative – http://thedailymile.co.uk.
Several times a week, the children and teachers will go for a 15 minute run around the school grounds. The children will need to make sure they bring a waterproof coat each day in case of wet weather. There is no need to send in trainers, but sensible shoes that won’t slip off should be worn.

Water Bottles
We encourage the children to remain hydrated throughout the day. Please provide your child with a water bottle each day clearly labelled with your child’s name. Please ensure that these are NOT in their lunch bag as these are kept in a different area. As we are a Healthy Eating School, we ask that the bottle contains water only, not squash or juice.

Snack
We provide all children in Foundation Phase with a healthy snack every day at a cost of £1 per week.  We appreciate it if you can pay £1 each Monday to cover this cost or you may prefer to pay half termly.

Class Dojo and Schoop
Class Dojo is a brilliant resource which helps teachers and parents communicate, so we encourage anyone who is not yet connected to do so soon.
Please also remember to check Schoop regularly so that you are kept up to date with newsletters and information. The code is 5427 once you have downloaded the app.

Reading Books
In Year 2, we ask the children to bring their book bag containing their reading book every day.  It is important for children to read regularly both at home and at school and we encourage children to join the local library to read a range of books.

Dewi Ddraig
Each week Dewi Ddraig (our class Welsh dragon) will come home with one child to find out about life in Wales.  Your child can write about themselves in his book but should remember that Dewi Ddraig only speaks Welsh!

Many thanks for your continued support and co-operation.

Mrs Thomas, Miss Roberts and Miss Drew
