Well, welcome to 2021!
We hope you have all had a good rest during the Christmas holiday.
This week you will be learning online from TUESDAY 5th JANUARY.
You will complete 3 tasks a day.
You will be expected to spend a little more time online with the teacher to make sure your work is the best it can be.
The plan for each day is:
9am MORNING REGISTRATION on Teams
11am Literacy lesson introduction
1pm AFTERNOON REGISTRATION
Our topic is still WW2 and this term we have several exciting tasks ahead:
Investigating local buildings from 1940s, making a 3D model of WW2 housing, looking at 'flashback' storytelling, listening to and performing music from WW2 era and starting our new class novel.
You are very experienced in online learning, and did so well engaging last year...keep this up!

Home Learning for 2 Weeks
You have probably heard by now that you will need to work online from home over the next two weeks.
This is a chance for you to use your online skills-using Google Classrooms, opening and handing in documents and using Teams meeting- that you have been developing over the last few months.
Below is an outline of how we will run the online learning this time.
Please always ask any questions you may have.

Christmas Card Competition (Homework 20.22.20)
This year Julie Morgan MS and Anna Mc Morrin MP have once again organised a Christmas card competition. This year will, of course, have to be slightly different and will all need to be done digitally. It would be great for us to take part again so please would you email your completed entries to Mrs Tune by 4th December. Open Evening Bishop of Llandaff

6/10/20 Maths Homework
Have a go at this week's homework on Google Classroom. You will be practising rounding numbers to to the nearest 10,100,1000. Remember to tell your teacher if you cannot get online at home. Pob lwc!
29.9.20 PE Lessons
PE for 6KTVF is on a Thursday this week and Friday next week. It will follow that pattern over the course of the term. Please send your child into school wearing their PE kit. Many thanks.

Although we have only just started year 6, it is also the time of year to start thinking about secondary schools! Over the next weeks, you will need to keep an eye on communication from the school regarding application deadlines.
The Bishop of Llandaff have sent us a letter to pass on to you about just this-just click on the link below. We realise this is a big decision and should you need to discuss anything don't hesitate to contact us.
Self-Isolation and Home Learning
In the event of your child self-isolating, Coed Glas has put together some 'Home Learning Packs' for them to complete should they feel well enough. Below is the link to these packs as well as a pdf with information about home learning.
Jo Adams is the teacher organising these home learning packs and she has added her email address to the pdf should you have any questions.
Your child's class teacher is also available should you need any support. Your child's well-being is the priority.

SRE lessons W/B 21/9/20
Our topic this half term is 'Skin Deep'. Please see the attached letter regarding SRE lessons starting next week. Should you have any questions don't hesitate to contact your child's class teacher via email.
Meet the Teacher
We hope you and the children have settled into the new routines of school life once again. It has been lovely to see and hear the classes full again and to meet the new year 6 of Coed Glas.
Sadly, we are unable to hold our usual 'Meet the Teacher' meeting this year due to COVID restrictions, so the ppt below contains the starter information you will need about 6 such as routines, contact details and topics.

Hello and welcome to the year 6 class pages.
Here, we will keep you updated with homework, trips and the children's learning in year 6.
Look out for the 'Meet the Teacher' ppt coming here soon which has some introductory information regarding your child's time in year 6. In the meantime, here are a few details.
As of Monday 14th September, ALL of year 6 will be attending school 9:00-3:30 and arriving and leaving via the BACK GATE.
This half term, year 6 pupils will be given online maths homework each week. Please also give your child opportunities to continue to read at home.
We run a homework club one lunchtime a week to ensure all children have an opportunity to complete the online tasks.
We will be completing a daily mile so please ensure pupils have sensible shoes that they can run in for this activity. Please also ensure that your child has a refillable drinks bottle in school too.
PE lessons for our class this year will be on:
Friday in week 1 (comm 21/9/20)
Thursday in week 2 (comm 28/9/20)
Children are required to WEAR THEIR PE KIT TO SCHOOL for this lesson. They will not change at the start or end of the lesson for the foreseeable future.
